Brick

After a quick recommendations list from my various facebook friends i was told to watch the 2005 film, Brick. So i checked it out on the trusty IMDB and watched the trailer, thought the film looked worth a buy so i did just that at my local HMV store.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Brick follows Brendan (Joseph Gordon-Levitt), a high school "geek" who finds out the girl he loves has been killed. He will stop at nothing to find the story and killer behind her death. He soon finds out his love, Emily (Emilie de Ravin), was dating some bad apples from and underground criminal drugs circle. Becoming involved and working undercover with his whiz kid friend the Brain (Matt O'Leary) Brendan finds him self in some difficult physical and mental situations. This crime drama mystery will keep your peepers glued to the screen, your mind on the move and heart racing.

Brick had me hooked from the very beginning with a sense of urgency from a frantic phone call kept me watching for the next 2 hours. There are a number of twists and turns through, along with a few laugh out loud moments. The acting in the film was very good, on Gordon-Levitt's part especially. He is convincing though out and you feel a real connection with his character and the hurt he is going through. The only down side was the geeks in this seemed a bit to hardcore and cool. The story line get complex in places but because you are dragged into the story it really gets those cogs turning. This film has it all in terms of mystery and action with some breath taking fight scenes and chases. I give Brick a solid WOAH MUMMA! out of 10.

Thanks for reading. If you would like to recommend a film for me to review please leave me a post on twitter @athreed or you can contact me by email at anything3declare@gmail.com.
